Start with your lowest acceptable price
Work out the least you would happily take: what you paid, any postage you cover, and a profit you are comfortable with. Everything above that is room to negotiate. Do this per item, not for the whole shop, because a £5 item and a £50 item have very different room.
A worked example
Say an item is listed at £40 and cost you £12.
- 5% off gives an offer of £38 and keeps £26 before postage.
- 10% off gives £36 and keeps £24.
- 20% off gives £32 and keeps £20.
Listel rounds offers to the nearest 50p, so a £45 item at 10% off becomes £40.50. These are examples, not promises that any discount will sell an item.
Matching the discount to the item
- Newer listing with a few likes: a small discount, around 5%, or just a friendly message.
- Has been up a while with steady likes: 10 to 15% is a common starting point.
- Stale, and you want it gone: a bigger discount, and check the price against similar sold items. See how to price items on Vinted.
Treat these as starting points and adjust to your own results.
Using a custom percentage
If the presets do not fit, Listel lets you type your own percentage, for example 7 or 12. The offer price for each selected item is shown before anything is sent, so you can see exactly what buyers will be offered.
Do not go lower than you can afford
If a buyer accepts, you are committed. Deselect any items where the offer would be too low rather than lowering your standards for the whole batch. For sending the offers, see how to send offers in bulk.
